Karen Wetzel, President
Hey everyone! My name is Karen Wetzel, and I will be serving as your President this year! I am a Senior, majoring in Psychology, and I hope to work in the Mental Health field in the future. Outside of AED, I work in Dr. Gerend’s Health Psychology Lab, and I am a Freshman Interest Group leader. I also love to ride my horse and hang out with the FSU Eventing Team in my free time. This year, I hope we can break barriers and create lasting support systems within AED so that no member feels left out or left behind. I also hope to help you find connections in the Tallahassee community, so you have the opportunity to learn and grow within the world of healthcare. Hey y’all! My name is Kaitlyn Prezioso and I will be serving as your Vice President for the upcoming academic year. I am currently a senior majoring in Exercise Physiology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. Along with my role in AED, you can find me in the Clinical Skeletal Muscle Physiology and Biochemistry Lab working on my honors thesis or volunteering at TMH! Through the experiences provided by this organization, I have discovered a true passion for helping others and gained qualities that will one day enable me to be a better physician. Julia Blankenbaker, Treasurer
Hi everyone! My name is Julia Blankenbaker and I will be serving as treasurer for the 2019-2020 academic year. I am currently a Junior majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. My plan after undergrad is to attend either medical school or PA school, and work in the neuro field. In addition to AED, I am also involved in FSU athletics as a member of the Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Some of my hobbies are traveling, reading, and going to the beach. Alexandra Johnson, Secretary
Hello everyone! My name is Alex Johnson and I will be serving as your Secretary for this upcoming academic year. I am currently a junior majoring in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences with a focus in Health Professions. I have plans on attending Physician Assistant School and want to work in the pediatric field. When I’m not in class, studying, or working I love to binge watch Netflix series and spend time with friends. I also spend a lot of time at TMH volunteering with the Mobility Team, so if you have any questions about that let me know! I’m super excited to increase involvement and make sure AED members are aware of all the awesome things we’ll be doing this year! Taylor Reynolds, Technology Chair
Hello everyone! My name is Taylor Reynolds and I will be serving as your Technology Chair for this upcoming academic year. I am currently a Junior majoring in Anthropology, with a minor in Chemistry. Along with my role in AED, I am also Vice President of the FSU Eventing Team and a volunteer for the TMH mobility clinic. I hope to attend medical school after I graduate and I have an interest in pursuing a career in Radiology, Orthopedics, or Primary-Care. I enjoy competing in local and regional horse shows, traveling, taking trips to Disney, and reading. I hope to keep the website for AED up to date and to maintain a completely integrated and active social media platform for AED. Graciela Medina, Historian
Hi there! My name is Graciela Medina, and I will be serving as your historian in this upcoming academic year. I am a sophomore Biology major with a minor in Chemistry. Outside of school I volunteer at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, work at the Rez, and am the mom to my dog. My goal in the future is to become a forensic pathologist. My hope this year in AED is to make members feel welcomed and more encouraged to pursue their dreams of becoming health professionals. Emily Shiel, Special Events Chair
Hi! My name is Emily Shiel and I will be serving as your Special Events Chair for this upcoming academic year. I am currently a junior majoring in Biochemistry. Along with my role in AED, I am also a presidential scholar and spend most of my time doing research. I will be applying to medical school this summer and hope to become an Emergency Medicine physician. This year in AED, I hope a lot of members enjoy participating in special events and supporting their respective organizations. Zachary Louah, Service Chair
Hello everyone! My name is Zachary Louah and I will be your Service Chair for this upcoming academic year. I am currently a Senior majoring in Biology. Along with my role in AED, I am also a volunteer for the Tallahassee Mermorial Mobility Clinic, an Eco-Rep of Sustainable Campus, and an undergraduate researcher at the Dr. Jose Pinto Muscle Biophysics Lab in the College of Medicine. Once I graduate from FSU I will be taking a gap year in Tangier, Morocco then starting my medical school career with hopes to work as a pediatric surgeon. I enjoy reading, politics, and global travel in my free time. I hope to accomplish a completely booked fall and spring semester with service events every open weekend of 2019/2020. Alexzandra Mattia, Assistant Service Chair
Hello everyone! My name is Alexzandra Mattia and I will be serving as your Assistant Service Chair for this upcoming school year. I am a junior majoring in Biochemistry, and I plan to pursue a career in medicine. I work as a scribe for the Family Medicine Residency at TMH, and I volunteer in the Mobility Clinic at TMH and the Alzheimer’s Project. I recently obtained my Medical Assistant Certification and continue to do research in Dr. Dean Delp’s exercise physiology lab. I love playing the violin in the University Symphony and cooking in my free time! My goal is to help branch out and strengthen AED’s involvement with numerous organizations off-campus. Sarah Abernathy, Mentor Program Director
Hello! My name is Sarah Abernethy and I will be serving as your Mentor Program Director for the 2019-2020 school year. I am a sophomore majoring in Biology. I hope to attend medical school after graduation as well as receive a Masters in Public Health. Along with AED, I am also a member of the Dance Project, a club which provides weekly dance classes to children in Tallahassee. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing, traveling, and watching Love Island. As Mentor Program Director, I want to ensure that everyone feels as though they have the information and support necessary to succeed as a pre-health student. Skylar Wilson, Membership & PR Chair
Hey guys! My name is Skylar Wilson, and I will be serving as your Membership and Public Relations Chair for the 2019-2020 academic year. I am currently a senior pursuing my degree in Exercise Physiology, with a double minor in Biology and Family and Child Sciences. Along with my role in AED, I am also involved with Splash Pals, which is an adapted aquatics program for kids with disabilities. Additionally, I also spend my time volunteering in the Cardiovascular ICU at TMH as well as being a research assistant at Tallahassee Neurological Clinic. I am extremely excited to work alongside AED’s 2019-2020 Executive Board in order to give continued support to our members both academically and socially. Chase Condon, Missions Director
Hey guys! My name is Chayse Condon and I will be acting as your Medical Missions Outreach Director for this upcoming academic school year. I am currently a junior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Along with my role in AED, I am a tutor for the Biology Department at FSU as well as an active volunteer at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in their Mobility Clinic. My career goals are to become a pediatrician. In my free time I enjoy reading and watching movies, as well as staying active. I was a member of the Medical Missions trip to Guatemala last year and look forward to leading the Medical Mission trip this year.
