Gabby Pineiro | President

Hi everyone! My name is Gabby and I will be your president for the 2023-2024 school year. I'm from Fort Lauderdale Florida. I am currently a pre-med neuroscience major in my senior year and after graduation I plan to take a gap year before attending medical school. My goal is to become a pediatric psychiatrist and attend medical school at the University of Florida. I am also part of the climbing club and serve as the health and safety officer in alpha chi sigma, the chemistry fraternity. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, skating, and snorkeling.I work in the Gratton lab where we do research using fMRI.

Saylor Marlow | Vice President

Hi everyone! My name is Saylor Marlow, and I will be serving as your Vice President. I am a junior majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and minoring in Chemistry. I plan on attending medical school after graduation to pursue a career as a primary care physician. In addition to AED, I am an emergency medical responder with the FSU Medical Response Unit and will soon be an EMT! I will also be spending my time this year working as an organic chemistry LA and volunteering at TMH. I hope to provide a diverse set of speakers for the upcoming GBMs that will spark your interests and help you all grow! I look forward to seeing all the new and familiar faces this upcoming year, and if you have any questions about anything at all please feel free to reach out!

Sabrina Roman | Secretary

Hey everyone! My name is Sabrina and I’m so thrilled to be your secretary this year! I am a senior majoring in Biomathematics on the pre-med track. My goal has always been to attend medical school and specialize in dermatology, but I am open to considering other specialties. I have had the great opportunity of being a Calculus I Learning Assistant for two semesters and a Peer Led Team Learning Leader and Supervisor while I was at FIU. I have also done research in the Biology Department under Dr. Okamoto in Ecological Systems and Population Dynamics. Some plans I have for this year are to gain more patient care experience, volunteer in the Tallahassee community, and begin studying for the MCAT. Outside of academics, I love listening to music, going to coffee shops, and spending time with those I love.

Samuel Bethards | Treasurer

Hey everyone! My name is Samuel Bethards and I am serving as your Treasurer for AED for the 2023-2024 academic year. I am a junior majoring in Biological Science  with a minor in Chemistry and Philosophy. I plan on taking a year after graduation to develop more experience in the medical field and  apply for medical school for the following year. My goal is to pursue a career in internal medicine. I am highly interesting in allergy and immunology, but I am open to other primary care fields as well. I like hiking, basketball, guitar, piano, and spending time with friends. I am also involved with FSU’s Biological Honor Society Executive Board and I enjoy volunteering with Healthy Noles.

As your Treasurer, I aim to facilitate all of the activities and projects we plan on engaging in through the year. Please let me know if you have any questions or want some help in your social or academic pursuits! I look forward to having a great year!

 

Leslie Infante | Historian

Hi everybody! My name is Leslie Infante and I will be serving as your Historian for the 2023-2024 school year. I am a senior majoring in Psychology, minoring in Chemistry and plan on attending medical school after graduation. My goal is to pursue a career in child and adolescent psychiatry. I am also an outreach coordinator for Studio H: For Healing, the undergraduate art therapy club, here at FSU. In my free time, I like cooking, spending time with my family, and taking care of my plant babies. As your Historian, I hope to keep you all informed on upcoming events, meetings, and volunteer opportunities.

Caroline zeek | External Service Director

Hey everyone! My name is Caroline Zeek, and I will be serving as your External Service Director. I am a junior majoring in Clinical Professions in the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences program. I plan to attend medical school after I graduate. In addition to AED, I work as a mobility volunteer at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, I am involved in research at the FSU College of Medicine, and I am apart of CHAARG. As the External Service Director, I hope to create a positive environment where we can grow and achieve our goals! Jenna Fitzgerald | Internal Service Director

Hey! My name is Jenna FitzGerald, and I will be serving as your Internal Service director for the 2023-2024 school year! I am a senior majoring in Exercise Physiology, and I plan on taking a gap year before attending PA school. I currently work as an Emergency Care Tech at TMH Bixler ER. In addition to AED, I am a Medical Responder for the FSU Medical Response Unit, a member of the pre-PA club, and an avid participant in IM sports. I am excited to become more involved with the Tallahassee community this year, as well as to share these experiences with fellow members of AED! Hi everyone!! My name is Olivia Picerne, and I am thrilled to be serving as your Fundraising Director! I am a senior majoring in Biological Science and minoring in Chemistry and Psychology. I plan on attending medical school after graduation to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to AED, I am a bio lab TA for BSC1005L and treasurer for the chemistry fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma. I hope to get AED more involved with the Tallahassee community! Marian Gonzalez | Special Events Director

Hey everyone! My name is Marian Gonzalez, and I will serve as your 2023-2024 Special Events Director. I am a junior majoring in Biochemistry, minoring in Business Administration. I plan to attend medical school once I graduate. Outside of AED, I work at North Florida Pediatrics as an MA and volunteer at the hospice center. I am also part of the CAN lab, where we research to find a cure for PTSD as well as the Vice President of the Hispanic Honor Society and events director for HAAPE. I love trying new things, especially with friends and family.

Alanis Velez | Service Chair

Hey everyone! My name is Alanis Velez and I will be serving as this years Service Chair. I am a Junior majoring in Biochemistry planning to go to medical school and become and E.R physician. Aside from being involved in AED, I work as a Patient Care Technician in the PACU at the HCA hospital, I volunteer at the ER at TMH, and I am an undergraduate DIS student for a psychology research group studying memory and cognition. I hope to bring our AED members closer with the Tallahassee community by giving back.

Jacqueline Cotilla | Membership/Public Relations Director

Hi everyone! My name is Jacqueline Cotilla and I will be serving as your Membership/ Public Relations Director for the 2023-2024 school year. I am a junior studying biology on the pre-med track. Along with AED, I am a member of the Swim Club and volunteer at the Mobility Clinic at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. I am also doing research in the field of cardiovascular disease at the College of Medicine. When I’m not doing class or research I love painting, exercising, and hanging out with friends. Victoria Lal | International outreach director

Hey everyone! My name is Victoria Lal and I will be serving as your International Outreach Director for the 2023-2024 school year. I am a junior studying Biological Sciences and planning to go to graduate school and get my Master’s degree in Biology. Alongside AED, I volunteer with the TMH Mobility Clinic and Food Recovery Network, and I also work as a Lab TA for BSC1005L. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling to new places, hiking, and taking care of my numerous house plants. I am so excited to lead our next AED medical mission trip to Latin America! Hi Everyone! My name is Carina Baiano, and I will be serving as your co-Academic Chair for the 2023-2024 school year. I am a sophomore majoring in Biology on the pre-med and minoring in Chemistry and Spanish. Outside of AED, I am a research assistant in the Biology department and volunteer with the Mobility Clinic at TMH. I will also be a Learning Assistant for Biology this Fall semester. In my free time, I like to participate in IM sports, play instruments, draw/paint, be in nature, and spend time with friends.

Hi everyone! My name is Avery Harris, and I will be serving as your 2023-2024 Academic Co-Chair. I’m a junior majoring in Biology with the goal of attending medical school and practicing as a physician. This past year I worked on research studying knee osteoarthritis pain-management with the College of Nursing. I’m also on FSU’s sailing team and serve as the Sailing Club’s Vice President. Outside of academics, I love spending time with friends and family and in the outdoors, whether that’s surfing, hiking, or sailing of course!

Lauren genewick | Mentorship Director

Hey everyone! My name is Lauren Genewick and I’m so excited to serve as your mentorship director this year. I’m a junior that’s double majoring in Public Health and Biology. After I get my Bachelor’s degree I plan to continue my education until I get a Doctorate and from there I’ll go on into medical research. On campus I’m training to be in FSU’s Medical Response Unit and working to receive my Global Citizenship Certificate. This academic year I hope to help any overwhelmed underclassmen feel a little less lost in our pre-health world by connecting you guys with some awesome mentors! Alexandra Martin | Co-Dance marathon chair

Hi everyone! I’m Alexandra Martin your Co-Dance Marathon Chair for the 2023-2024 academic year! I am a sophomore majoring in Biology and Education with a minor in Psychology and Chemistry. Upon graduation, I plan on attending Medical School! Outside of AED, I conduct research in Dr. P Bryant Chases’ Lab, am a member of CHAARG, and volunteer at TMH’s Mobility Clinic & Cancer Center. I love musical theatre and got the opportunity this semester to work with the props/deck crew for the 9 to 5 musical at FSU’s Fallon Theatre. I also love to read and be a part of book clubs, as well as bake, paint, and spend time with my friends outside of school.

Hi everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Barnes, and I will be serving as your Co-Dance Marathon Chair for the 2023-2024 academic year! I am currently a senior in the Interdisciplinary Sciences (IMS) Program, majoring in Clinical Professions. I am an IMS Ambassador, Big Bend Hospice volunteer, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare volunteer, research assistant in FSU’s Learning, Memory, and Language Lab, and a research volunteer for FSU’s College of Medicine in Immokalee. My goal is to attend medical school after graduation. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and reading! I look forward to fundraising for Dance Marathon this year, and I hope you all will join me in increasing funds and awareness for children in need!
