DEAN'S DAY
In the Spring, AED hosts the annual Dean's Day event. This event consists of small group sessions with Dean of Admissions from each of the Florida medical schools, a tour of the FSU College of Medicine, various speakers, and a medical student question and answer panel. Dean's Day is a great way to network and learn about the medical school admissions process.
DANCE MARATHON
Dance Marathon is a year-round fundraising event for Children's Miracle Network. We raise money for kids with cancer. At this special event, we participate in one of the 20 hr dance shifts! Though the special event is in March, AED starts building their team of dancers early so they can fundraise as much as possible. MEDICAL MISSION TRIP
Every spring break, AED pairs up with a Medical Missions Outreach team to aid a third-world country who seeks dire medical attention. Our team travels with Healthcare Professionals, and work in free clinics that help over hundreds of patients a day. It is an amazing hands-on experience where you will learn many valuable skills, gain a lot of shadowing opportunities, immerse yourself in different cultures, and meet some really great people along the way.
RELAY FOR LIFE
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in thousands of communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it's time to take action against cancer.
CAMP BOGGY CREEK
Camp Boggy Creek is a camp located in Eustis, Florida (near Orlando). This camp is for children with serious illnesses (cancer, diabetes, sickle cell just to name a few). Every weekend, the camp invites children with specific illnesses to come and have fun for the weekend. The children are able to forget about their illnesses for that weekend, and enjoy the fun-filled activities camp has to offer! Alpha Epsilon Delta has the privilege to volunteer at this camp during the Fall or Spring Semester! It is such an amazing opportunity to bring joy to those kids who are not able to have a healthy childhood.
